Nestled at the base of the University Clocktower in the Student Community Center, Saint Jude Chapel provides a peaceful retreat for students and visitors seeking quiet contemplation, prayer, and spiritual growth amid the energy of campus life at Saint Leo University.
Named in honor of Elizabeth Tousey Cannon and her patron saint, the chapel was generously funded by Bob and Mary Cabot in 2008 as a tribute to Elizabeth’s faith and devotion to Saint Leo. It also holds deep historical significance, as Liam Brady, a fifth-generation Saint Leo Cannon, was baptized within its walls.
Beyond personal reflection, Saint Jude Chapel serves as a hub for student ministry and service. During the Fall and Spring Semesters, Men’s and Women’s Groups gather for Wednesday night discussions and prayer, followed by a weekly evening prayer service. The chapel is also home to significant campus traditions, including the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Clocktower Courtyard and ash distribution on Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. Additionally, the chapel supports outreach efforts with clothing donation drop boxes for THORN available inside.
Situated in the heart of campus, Saint Jude Chapel stands as a beacon of faith, community, and tradition, offering a sacred space for reflection and connection at Saint Leo University.
